Landscape painting occupies much of David Welsh's painting in an impressionist style. Always doing oil painting on canvas, he concentrates on the effect of light on fields, buildings, water, and above all on the sky: sunlit clouds, blazing blue heat, menacing storms and cold English winters. Still life painting is also popular and also portrait painting. His portraits of people and animals ( for example a favourite dog , cat or horse) are powerful, lifelike and full of character.
